I recently graduate Dean's List from Brandeis University with a BA in Public Health and African-American studies. During my time at Brandeis I was heavily involved in Jewish life, research, orientation programming, and community service initiatives. I worked with students of all ages in the local school district. After graduating I took a role at Big Brothers Big Sisters running a mentoring program for high schoolers. The program focused on building meaningful relationships with an emphasis on college and career readiness. I created programming to guide students on making college lists and thinking about areas of study. This experience emphasized the importance of relationship in building when making big decisions- like college planning. I then went on to spend the next few years working as an Admission Counselor at Brandeis University followed by Olin College of Engineering. In these roles I was able to guide prospective students and applicants though the application process and beyond. I would advise students on essay topics and the extracurriculars section, offering guidance on how to make their application represent them the best. I gained an understanding of the entire admission process from beginning to end, seeing the areas where students can shine most. This experience could be stressful for some students but continuing to communicate with one another made all the difference. I now work as a Client Success Manager at a remote software company guiding our clients on best practices and troubleshooting the product. I love being able to guide and teach people everyday and I'm excited to continue that journey here. When not working at the computer, you can find me cooking, playing tennis, reading or going for a long walk.
I graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a High Distinction Honors B.S. in Computer Science. I applied my education to a successful career in Information Technology Consulting at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture) and Strategic Management Consulting at Deloitte and Touche (now Deloitte). Following my consulting career, I took years off to be a stay-at-home mom of my four children. As my oldest was applying to college, I became fascinated in and took a deep dive into the college application process. With my depth and breadth of information, I have worked as a CBO College Counselor for the past 9 years—first at Evanston Scholars and then at Chicago Scholars. Through my CBO work, I have the privilege of developing solid rapport, personal connections, and trusting relationships with students and families from a variety of backgrounds. In addition to my CBO College Counseling, I am a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and provide Independent Educational Consulting by referral. I stay current on shifting trends in the application process and versed in colleges’ academic climates and landscape. I understand, as a parent of four college graduates—University of Michigan Ross School of Business ('16), University of Michigan Ross School of Business ('18), University of Michigan Ford School of Public Policy and Ross Minor ('20), Massachusetts Institute of Technology Mechanical Engineering ('22) and Stanford University ME PhD (anticipated '27), how to inspire and motivate teenagers while creating a supportive and nurturing environment. My professional qualities are based on a faculty for meticulous research and analysis as well as organizational, written, and interpersonal communication skills. These traits translated well from a consulting career to a college counseling career. In my free time, I love to travel to Philadelphia, Miami, and Palo Alto to see my kids. I am an avid reader and I am addicted to pickleball.
Greetings! I am so excited to be on this journey with you! I really enjoy creating the college list, reading applications and of course finding a student's home for the next 4 years. I started in the world of admission at Utica University (Formerly Utica College). I traveled the entire country working with many different kinds of students and families. A few years later I transitioned to the role of Director of Diversity Recruitment at Hamilton College. It was an absolute joy to work with QuestBridge applicants, POSSE applicants and students enrolled in the Higher Educational Opportunity Program (HEOP). Currently, I am working at the illustrious Howard University where I am an in-house consultant for the admissions team. I truly believe that there is a college for every student. This journey is such an exciting time in a student’s life. I am so excited to take part and support you anyway I can.
During my college search, I was focused on finding a college that was social justice minded and nurtured a culture of community service. From my very first visit to Brandeis University’s campus, I was in love with the school. I chose to attend Brandeis and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education Studies and Hispanic Studies. While at Brandeis, I ran a volunteer tutoring program, was the staff team leader for the Intercultural Center and studied abroad in Barcelona. After working for several years, I attended Sage Graduate School and earned a Master of Science degree in Professional School Counseling. Early on in my professional career, I took a job at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as an Admissions Counselor and was promoted a couple of years later to Assistant Director of Admissions. While at RPI, I gained a deep expertise in college admissions, especially STEM admissions, and advised students from all over the country and the world (though my primary territory was New Jersey- shout out to New Jersey!). I reviewed over 1500 applications annually from a wide range of majors, but many of the applications were for engineering and computer science. As the liaison to the School of Architecture, I led the committee review process for all architecture applications. I also worked with students pursuing Division 1 and Division 3 athletics, ROTC and accelerated programs in medicine or law. After graduating with my Master’s in 2020, I worked as a school counselor at a diverse suburban high school in Upstate New York. In this role, I worked with students regularly on all aspects of the college process from building the college list to applying for scholarships and interpreting financial aid letters. I served on a scholarship committee, wrote letters of recommendation and edited essays. I am highly acquainted with Naviance, so I can support students who attend Naviance high schools with application logistics. Recently, I launched a new phased of my career and now work as an Independent Educational Consultant full-time. That means my full-time focus is on supporting students on navigating their path to college. In my work as an at CollegeAdvisor.com, I see you as a whole person and acknowledge that the college application process is only one aspect of your complex and busy life. I believe that the college application process should be enriching, and you should gain knowledge, skills and self-awareness that you can carry with you to college and beyond. I look forward to supporting you in this exciting journey as you launch this next chapter of your life!
I hold my B.A. from Williams College, where I graduated with Highest Honors in Theatre and the prestigious Hubbard L. Hutchinson Memorial Fellowship. I'm an actor, playwright, and musician from Western Massachusetts based in New York City. This spring, I made my Broadway debut as a Swing and Dance Captain in the Tony-Award-winning production of Parade! I'm also a member of The Forest of Arden, a theatrical collective focused on creating site-specific immersive work. I've studied physical theater training methods in the U.K., Greece, and Japan, and believe that my liberal arts education allowed me to view my artistic work with a wider lens. Besides my performance work, I spent a year teaching Theater and Chorus at Taconic High School, my alma mater in Pittsfield, where I connected with high school students seeking to continue their studies in the arts. Last fall, I had the honor of being a part-time admissions reader for Williams College, where I worked side by side with Admissions Officers to find extraordinary students in a highly selective admissions process. I have first-hand experience with the admissions process, with a particular affinity for the liberal and performing arts. I'm excited to help students show their best authentic selves in their applications and make the process enjoyable, equitable, and rewarding for everyone! It's nice to meet you!
I received my B.A. from Brandeis University with a double major in Psychology and Italian. I then went on to get an Interpreters degree in Italian and French from Georgetown University and then a Master's degree in International Affairs and Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. I have worked at the United Nations, for the Italian government and as a free-lance interpreter and translator. For a number of years, I have been working as an independent college counselor working both with international and American students and I now look forward to collaborating with CollegeAdvisor and to continue helping students navigate the college admissions process.
Hi! My name is Jesus and I graduated from Yale in 2020 where I majored in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. As a first-generation college student, I know the importance of college advising and have supported students from all walks of life as they applied to schools all across the country. I am excited to bring my years of expertise as a pre-med student interested in exploring the humanities and STEM fields through the liberal arts education at Yale as well as my years of experience advising students as they figure out what colleges they want to apply to, develop captivating essays, and determine what subjects they might be interested in exploring during college.
